Educator Career Development

Demonstrating your teaching skills is part of the hiring process for educators. In this session, participants will learn how to best showcase their teaching and classroom management skills. You will also learn what hiring managers are looking for when assessing candidates.

This session will introduce participants to the various certifications those who wish to work in the education field need to earn in order to practice.

Representatives from local colleges, universities, public schools, and charter networks will talk to participants about their programs and hiring process. Participants will network with these representatives while learning about the different types of programs offered in NYC.

Gathering the information you need to apply to post-secondary school and teacher residencies can help you prepare for completing and submitting applications. In this session, participants will learn which types of information requested in an application process. Responding to essay questions and answering difficult questions will also be covered.

How much does college cost? What is FAFSA? Can you work and earn a degree? In this session, participants will learn about the different options available to pay for their post-secondary education.

Gathering the information you need to apply to post-secondary school and teacher residencies can help you prepare for completing and submitting applications especially for undergraduate programs. In this session, participants will learn which types of information requested in an application process. Responding to essay questions and answering difficult questions will also be covered.

Representatives from Lehman College, Brooklyn College, and Hunter College will talk to participants about their education programs. Participants will network with these representatives while learning about the different types of programs offered in NYC.  

This session will introduce participants to the various certifications those who wish to work in the education field need to earn in order to practice.

Participants will learn how to identify and practice various forms of communication. Additionally, professional practices will be explored.   Note: This is a new date and hybrid event.
