Facilitators: Alex De La Cruz and Allison Philippin
In this workshop, we will focus on Foreshadowing in a fictional text that creates an atmosphere of suspense in a story, so that the readers are interested and want to know more. This literary device is generally used to build anticipation in the minds of readers about what might happen next, thus adding dramatic tension to a story.
Educators will walk away with the ability to understand atmosphere as a literary device and how authors use it to color and amplify their writing. They will also be able to identify how figurative language engages their readers, by guiding them through writing, with a more creative tone, allowing them the ability to understand how words provide connections to different ideas
