DESCRIPTION

Dear Literacy Educators,

We hope this year is off to a great start!

ExpandED Schools is pleased to introduce Lit C.R.E.W (Connect, Read/Research, Explore, Wrap-up)

Our middle school literacy book clubs initiative, formerly MS ExTRA (launched in the fall of 2013 as Middle School Expanded Day + Tutoring = Reading Achievement), has evolved to better support literacy activities in the afterschool space.

Lit C.R.E.W will enrich literacy efforts by fostering reading opportunities that allows students to explore rich and diverse texts, builds their research skills, and promotes creativity through project-based learning in the afterschool setting. Lit C.R.E.W’s instructional design supports vocabulary development and enhances comprehension, aligned to The Science of Reading standards.

This training will support you in understanding the new Lit C.R.E.W model, support in your development of classroom culture and allow in-person opportunities to strategize and model this experience.

Remote Institute: Monday October 28th- Friday November 1st .

In Person Institute will take place on Wednesday, November 6th- Friday, November 8th at our ExpandED Office at 11 West 42nd St. 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10036.
